If you want to nominate yourself, or any other photographer, to be featured as photographer of the week kindly use the contact form to provide us with the following information

  • Photographer Name or Nickname
  • Photographer byline
  • A link to a portfolio of 10 to 15 images max
  • Twitter and/or facebook fan page if available

Our team will review the applications and will get back to you if and when the feature will happen.

Last week I have received 2 emails reporting problems with adidap’s rss feed and, although I have not experimented any issues myself, I had found that the recently implemented diqus plug-in was breaking things up. Updating to the latest version of wordpress seems to have fixed to issue according to feedvalidator.org.

I would really appreciate if you could take a few minutes and check if adidap’s rss feed is working fine at your side. If not please drop me a line here with the reader you are using and what is the last update showing up.

One year ago I’ve shared with you my wish to create a calendar out of the best pictures of flickr group. And today this 12 months in the making project comes to an end and I am happy to give you the first ADIDAP calendar ever for the year 2009 and I hope you will enjoy it.

12 months, 12 winning pictures and 11 flickr photographer listed here in no particular order:

Lesson Learned
During the building of ADIDAP 2010 Calendar I will make sure to get high resolution copies of the winning pictures to be able to give you a higher quality calendar.

I’ve been a little slow lately on updating but that’s just because I’ve been busy fixing the new version of ADIDAP.

Of course new design also equals problems and hiccups so please bear with me and I’d really appreciate your feedback not only on the overall design of the site, but also if you encounter any problems do let me know.

Back in June I have called for design help and I was able to reach an agreement with Jai Nischal Verma from Blog-Oh-Blog. Although I was really hopping for a unique theme I ended up by settling on a modified version of one of Jai’s Premium Themes ModBlogger-Tech. The upgrade is not over yet since I intend to keep on tweaking the theme, over the next couple of days/weeks, till everything looks right!

This is more than just an upgrade, it is a complete remodeling/migration of the blog. Adidap is now running on WordPress 2.6.3 and some 10 plugins or so.

For those interested here is a quick overview about how did adidap look change over the time

Regular readers of adidap are familiar with the photographer of the week section that I’ve been running for quite a while. I have done my best to contact on regular basis wonderful photographers asking for their permission to publish their work and feature them etc…

Where most of them answered the call in a prompt manner some, obviously caught with their daily life, fail to do so in a timely fashion and this result in some delay of posting here at adidap.com so I am trying a slightly different approach to this section.

The idea

This is where you come to play a role in all this ! I know there are among adidap readers a lot of talented photographer with great pictures and giving everyone the chance to submit names for POTW will just ease my job. So if you interested to get your work published here as “photographer of the week” keep on reading

Major concern

I have been very reluctant to make “photographer of the week” open for submissions because, obviously, I would hate to receive a portfolio and feel compelled to refuse it, so I am saying this up front. I have no quantifier for the “level” of the pictures needed to be accepted and I am currently the only judge. So don’t freak out prepare your portfolio and send it over and I’ll take a look, just keep in mind that it might not get accepted you just have nothing to loose.

What I am expecting of you

  1. Prepare a portfolio of 10 pictures: Find a collection of your best 10 pictures and upload them to the web somewhere you know that they are going to stay for a good time with max resolution of 445 px on the widest side. Here are some tips on how to prepare a portfolio
  2. Your full name or if you prefer your nickname
  3. The URL you’d like to be linked back to as your main gallery/blog
  4. Of course the permission to use your work on adidap.com

Finally use the contact page to send me all this and I’ll get back to you if you are accepted or not with a tentative schedule when you are going to be published.

I was never able to seek a professional and reputable wordpress design company for obvious budget constraints, but I found myself spending money and being scammed by 4 “cheap” designers that stop answering emails as soon as they get their part of the money.

What I need

I am not here to bother you guys with my problems but to seek help, I need someone to

  1. Upgrade ADIDAP from wordpress 2.1 to 2.5 importing to tags from UTW to the native tagging system of wordpress
  2. Design a unique theme for ADIDAP as well as logo and branding
  3. Fit the various wordpress plugins I use

I have at hand one design draft made from one of the designers I stated above before he disappears that might be of use.

What Can I offer?

Of course I can offer money for the redesign however my budget is restricted and will be discussed case by case. I can also offer one of the 125×125 buttons for a full year if it is of any good for you. However I just need someone that will accept to get paid AFTER the job is done. I’m sorry but I don’t feel like being scammed once more.

I’m tired, frustrated, worn out, sleepless etc… But I am happy.

This hard time cost me a lot, a lot in terms of time and money but I have learned how much you guys are wonderful.

I have so many thing to tell you all but this is not the right time, I have just finished the basic setup of adidap and I have 20+ other sites to migrated and then working on the details it will take time but at least no data is lost

This is just a quick note to let you all know that I really appreciate all your emails, IM or thoughts you had for me. Thank you for the offers to host adidap for me thank you for everything !

As I write Adidap is back to only 1 rss subscriber ” ((“myself”))” but this doesn’t really matter at the time. I have plenty of time for the come back and I promise you some great photography articles.

Of course in the migration process chances are that I did miss some details so please do let me know about them by a comment, the contact form is not working yet the contact form is now working :D !

A feedback from you would also be great about the speed of ADIDAP’s new home.

If you are interested to read the detailed story it is coming along, but I have things to fix before

This is the longest crash in ADIDAP’s history. It is not due to traffic peak because we have been featured on Digital Photography School” ((“Thanks Darren for that !”))” the reasons are still mysterious” ((“It turned out to be a cable problem“))” all I know is that I have 2 dedicated servers with my hosting company and both went down ! I am still waiting for clarifications from them.

Zookoda is the service I’ve been using here at adidap to deliver the newsletter by emails ever since August 2006, and now I am compelled to move to another provider.

Since FeedBurner was recently bought by Google, I am already using it for RSS, and it is free, I have decided to move adidap mailing list there.

Feedburner problem is that they do not allow me to import the current 450 subscribers list (what a shame) so I just have to build that list over again.

So ladies, gents, dear reader if you want to receive ADIDAP updates by email please take the time to register again.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience but things are out of my hands this time.

1. We got accepted at rssHugger: rssHugger is something like a paid technorati, this cost is not expensive ($20 for 10 years) and if you blog about it you get if for free.
To insure a high quality blogs and keep their system spam free, they review each submission manually, I applied to that a few days ago and I got the green light.

2.We’re collecting Business cards: I also added the entrecard widget, since I was never able to get ad sales I gave that a try. The system is pretty simple it is based on credits and you can use your credits to “buy” ads on another blog. So it is something like gaining virtual money that can be used to buy other ads.

3.We WON a free ad spot at John Cow: Well it is the first time I ever actually win anything, but it just happened. I get a one week ad spot in the rss feed of JohnCow.com. Do check out the landing page and tell me what you think.
