There will be NO Canon M30/M80 for the USA

On September 28th 2006, Canon revleaved at Photokina the Canon M30 and M80 portable digital devices for photographers.

Today, just two weeks after the press release, it seems that those products will not hit the US market, at least not in the near future.

Nikon firmware for D200, D2X and D2Hs

Nikon has today issued firmware version 2.0 for three of its digital SLRs. The D200 gets support for the WT-3 wireless transmitter and image authentication via the menu (the use of which requires optional software). Updates to the D2X and D2Hs are far more extensive (probably the largest list of updates we’ve ever seen implemented by firmware) and include additional ISO settings on the D2X, auto-focus improvements, changes to menu options, new image processing options and playback information.

Canon M30/M80 revealed

Canon today launches the portable devices, designed with EOS and other digital photographers in mind. The Canon Media Storage M30 and Canon Media Storage M80 devices feature a large ultra-bright 3.7” TFT screen with 160º viewing angle for image and video review, and a 30Gb/80Gb hard disk to store digital images, movie and sound files of various file formats. Both the Canon Media Storage M30 and Canon Media Storage M80 feature a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface and slots for CF and SD cards. With their tough, robust magnesium alloy bodies and intuitive navigation familiar to EOS owners, the devices add an important link to the workflow chain of professional photojournalists and photographers on location, outdoor and expedition shoots. The Canon Media Storage M30 and Canon Media Storage M80 are also expected to be popular with the increasing body of every-day photographers looking for new ways to store and display favourite shots and extend storage capacity whilst away from the computer.

Canon new picture style

Although this might not be new news, but I’ve noticed just today that on canon website there is a new picture style file to be downloaded called “Autumn Hue”.

Autumn Hue is the 5th addition of picture style on canon website after Nostalgia, Clear, Twilight and Emerald.

Canon custom picture style can be downloaded on you camera if you have a Canon EOS 5D, 30D or 400D or can be used with any raw file using the new version of Canon Digital Photo Professional software also known as DPP.
